A little about our class...
Our year will be full of learning and fun! If you have a question about anything we do, please do not hesitate to email me.
We will be using an online Learning Management System called Schoology this year. More information will be coming about this soon! Our class will have a page that is specific to just us. If you would like a little overview, watch a quick video here. Since we are Kindergarten, I am working to make our page easier to navigate for the younger age group, however, all of the same settings and capabilities will still be there.
Important School Board Policies to Remember
Attendance: Students must attend at least 63% of the school day in order to be counted as present for the day. This means that if your child arrives to school late or is checked out early, without meeting the 63%, he/she will be counted as absent for the entire day. This insures that your child gets the most benefit from the school day.
Promotion: In order for a child to promote to First Grade, he/she must:
*master at least 70% of the Language Arts standards AND
*master at least 70% of the Math standards.
It is suggested that students be able to read independently at or above a Level C according to Fountas & Pinnell reading inventory.
Lunch Policy: Our class will eat lunch together in the cafeteria on Mondays and Wednesdays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we will eat in our classroom (those students getting a tray from the cafeteria will get a tray and return to our room). All students will be offered free lunch again this year. More info will be coming soon about lunch guests.
ClothesAccidents happen! Mud, milk, and bathroom accidents are all popular in Kindergarten. Please keep a change of clothes in your child's backpack. This allows you to change out as needed for sizes and seasons.

MoneyAll money that is sent to school should be labeled, placed in a zip bag or envelope, and put in the zipper pouch of your child's folder. Please label with the child's name and purpose (lunch money, hat day, etc.).
|
SnackPlease send a small snack with your child each day. We eat snack at 9:10. One food item and a small drink are plenty. Please no candy or sodas of any kind.
|
HomeworkYour student will most likely need help on his/her homework at some point this year. Please help them, but allow your student to write for him/herself.
